OECS Member States are taking steps to fully embrace the digital economy. The OECS Commission has formed a special ICT Strategy Group to consider the region’s options for using technology more effectively to facilitate its integration agenda. The group is being chaired by the OECS Director General, Dr. Didacus Jules.
Belize will be represented by Michael Singh, Advisor to the Office of the Prime Minister, in the Ministerial Meeting of Electronic Government of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Annual Meeting of Red Gealc. Carol’s predominant modes of operation are “give a hand” and “expand and enhance”. As an active member in church community and a dedicated civil servant for over 20 years, she has been able to indulge both modes changing the lives of individuals and her country.
The endorsement was made at a Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development held in Barbados on Wednesday, 21 September, 2016. The Hon. Guy Joseph, Minister of Economic Development, Housing, Urban renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation of Saint Lucia chaired the Meeting.

All Internet providers in Belize have come together to form a non-profit company called the Belize Internet Exchange Point (BIXP) in order to vastly improve internet based services in the country. BIXP was launched on Wednesday, April 16, making Belize the only country in the Caribbean in which all Internet providers are connecting at the same exchange point.

The National ICT Strategy presents a Vision that focused on accelerated development and improved quality of life for all Belizeans through universal access and widespread usage of ICT. A two week course on ‘Network and Data Security’ which was scheduled to commence on Tuesday September 4th will now commence on Thursday September 6th at the George Price Center for Peace and Development in the City of Belmopan. This workshop concludes on September 14th, 2007. The facilitator is Dr. Simon Jih-Tsang Liang, Professor, Wufeng Institute of Technology, Taiwan.
